HIGHLIGHTS

  • 11,119 cartons of water has been distributed

A. CONTEXT

The situation on Ambae remains the same, there is a lessening on the ash fall however it still poses a threat to the communities of Ambae, due to high Turbidity in the water. There are two clean water sources that are used on the island, saratamata water system and Loone bore hole located on the western part of Ambae.

As times passes people from affected areas continue to find shelter in Evacuation centers. Ash falls on the island has created a grey environment for Locals to live their life. However WASH Team continues to support them with water distribution, VIP construction and Hygiene distribution and awareness.

A few challenges encountered throughout distribution are transportation r (It is not possible currently possible to use larger lorries),rough roads during heavy rain especially the southern part of Ambae, Ash fall and No safety gears for volunteers on the ground. This makes it more challenging for the ground team to travel from one community to another.
